Chandigarh is a planned city designed by Le Corbusier, the shared capital of Punjab and Haryana, with wide, tree-lined roads, large sectors laid out on a grid and the Sukhna Lake near the Shivalik foothills. The climate is humid subtropical: summers (April to June) are hot, the monsoon (July to September) is rainy, and winters (December to February) are cool with foggy mornings. October to March is the best time to race, and the city has a strong running culture. Winter fog can reduce visibility early in the day. It has an airport and fast rail links to Delhi.
