Florianópolis is an island city in southern Brazil with more than forty beaches, lagoons, dunes and hills, popular for trail running, surfing and open-water sports. The climate is humid subtropical: summers (December to February) are hot, humid and the busiest season, autumn (March to May) is warm and settled, winters (June to August) are mild with some cool rainy days, and spring (September to November) is warm and fresh. Autumn and spring are the most comfortable seasons for racing, and the sea is warm enough for swimming in summer and early autumn. It has an international airport and a bridge to the mainland.
