Québec City is the historic, French-speaking capital of the province of Quebec, a walled city on the St Lawrence River with a UNESCO-listed old town, hills and river views. The climate is continental: summers (June to August) are warm, autumn (September to October) is cool and colourful, winters (December to March) are long, cold and very snowy, and spring is slow and wet. Late spring to early autumn is the usual racing season, with the best conditions in June and September. The old city is hilly and cobbled, so expect some climbing. The city has an international airport.
