Race IRONMAN 70.3 Elsinore featuring a swim at Elsinore Harbour, a fast bike ride along the coastline of Northern Sealand, and a run going around the historic Kronborg Castle.
Staged near the legendary 15th century Kronborg Castle, IRONMAN 70.3 Elsinore is a fusion of Danish culture and nature. With an iconic race start marked by an old cannon being fired on the harbor front, athletes transition from the swim in the harbor through the woodlands and green landscapes of Denmark, as well as the stunning architecture of the city center.
Located only a short drive from Copenhagen, Elsinore features cobblestone streets and Renaissance scenery, offering numerous opportunities for exploration and discovery.
The ROKA Swim Course is a one-loop 1.9 km (1.2 mile) swim in Elsinore Harbour in front of Kronborg Castle. The ZOOT Bike Course heads north along the coastline of Northern Sealand, turning left toward the countryside for two counterclockwise loops before returning along the coast towards the city (fast course with minor ascents). The run course circles the historic Kronborg Castle.
The transition area is located in a green area called Grønnehave, close to the Culture Harbour and overlooking Kronborg Castle.
After entering, follow the blue carpet to pick up your BLUE BIKE bag at your numbered rack. Changing benches and a designated privacy changing area are provided. Place your swim gear into the BLUE BIKE bag, re-rack it on its hanger, grab your bike, and proceed to the carpeted bike-out exit.
Dismount your bike before entering transition and follow the red carpet to your designated rack spot. After racking your bike, proceed to the bag rack area to collect your RED RUN bag.
Use the provided benches or designated privacy area to change into your run gear, place your bike helmet and gear inside the RED RUN bag, re-rack the bag, and head onto the run course.
Elsinore, also known as Helsingør, is a coastal town on the Øresund strait facing Sweden, home to Kronborg castle, the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet, and a well-preserved old town. The climate is mild and maritime: summers (June to August) are cool to warm with long daylight, autumn is windy and damp, winters (December to February) are cold and grey, and spring is fresh. Late spring to early autumn is the best time for racing, and a sea breeze is common. It is less than an hour north of Copenhagen by train, with a ferry to Sweden.
