Lima is Peru's capital, on the Pacific coast, built on cliffs above the ocean, with a historic centre, a famous food scene and a long clifftop and coastal path for running. The climate is a coastal desert: summers (December to April) are warm, sunny and dry, while winters (June to October) are cool, grey and damp with fog and little sun. December to April is the best time for racing, though the humidity is high. The sea is cold. Jorge Chávez International Airport serves the city.
