Jönköping is a city at the southern end of Lake Vättern, in southern Sweden, with the lake and low hills around it, a long waterfront and a match-making heritage. The climate is cool: summers (June to August) are mild with very long evenings, autumn is damp, winters (December to February) are cold with snow, and spring is fresh. Late spring to early autumn is the best time for racing. The lake is cold for swimming even in summer. It is reached by train and road from Stockholm and Gothenburg.
